Following yesterday's news, that Windows Phone 7 went RTM and Engadget's report, that HTC's next HD isn't called HD3 but HD7, to honor Microsoft's upcoming Windows Phone 7 launch, the Global Certification Forum has just approved another HTC device - the HTC 7 Trophy. As always, the GCF isn't spilling any beans about the OS (so it could be a Windows Phone 7 or an Android smartphone or it might be another Brew phone from HTC) but the 7 in the code-name might indicate a Windows Phone 7. The GCF confirms quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE as well as dualband UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA at 900/2100 MHz which makes it the perfect phone for Europe and Asia but not America.

As always, there's no release date given but typically GCF phone hit the market 6 - 8 weeks after approval. So the HTC 7 Trophy might be indeed the first approved Windows Phone 7; confirming an October launch.
Cheers ~ Arne
