Announced back in March, it looks like the Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000 Android smartphone is ready to be launched soon. Just recently, it received the necessary Global Certification Forum (GCF) approval and the GCF just confirmed what Samsung announced already. The Android 2.1-powered smartphone, which features a 4" Super AMOLED touchscreen and a 1 GHz CPU, comes with quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE as well as triband UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA at 900/1900/2100 MHz. Furthermore it supports WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0 and features aGPS, a digital compass, accelerometer and proximity sensor as well USB 2.0.
However, not announced by Samsung but confirmed by the GCF, it seems the Samsung Galaxy S will also supports 3GPP compliant UMTS video telephony.
The Galaxy S was said to be available in Europe, North America, Latin America, Australia and Asia soon and with today's GCF approval soon might mean anytime this quarter.
