When HTC announced the HTC ChaCha (which will be called ChaChaCha in Spain for some good reasons) Android smartphone back in February, it was only said that it will be available in major European and Asian markets in Q2-2011. As always, no further information were given. However, it looks like we have a date now - at least for Germany, Austria and Switzerland. HTC DACH's German Facebook page is now featuring an upcoming event in Dortmund, Wien and Zürich where HTC invites its customers to celebrate with them the release of the HTC ChaCha. The event series happens between June 18 (Germany) and July 16 (Switzerland). So there are good chances that HTC's first Facebook phone will be launched anytime around.
Running on Android 2.3.3, the HTC ChaCha features a 2.6", 480 x 320 pixel landscape touchscreen and is designed to provide a seamless Facebook experience by enabling users to stay in touch with friends and family anytime, anywhere. The unique tilt design shapes the display and physical QWERTY keyboard so it is easy to view and comfortable to type. It allows to capture special moments in crisp, HD detail or allows to video chat with friends using the dual cameras, including the 5 megapixel color camera with auto focus and LED flash and a VGA front-facing camera.
The HTC ChaCha feature a dedicated Facebook button for one-touch access to the key functions of the Facebook service that are integrated throughout the HTC Sense experience. The Facebook button is context-aware, gently pulsing with light whenever there is an opportunity to share content or updates through Facebook. With a single press of the button, users can update their status, upload a photo, share a Website, post what song they are listening to or 'check in' to a location and more.
