Looks like the Samsung SGH-i300x wasn't just a marketing fake but real, at least one company is selling and shipping it worldwide now: Singapore-based doml.com.
It's selling the "International English Version" of the i300x (you remember - the i300 refresh with a 4GB HDD which surfaced back in January) for around US$ 699.99 plus shipping costs. Unfortunately doml.com isn't saying which Windows Mobile version the i300x is about (Windows Mobile 2003SE vs. Windows Mobile 5.0) nor they are saying a word about the user interface languages (English can be expected but is it US or UK English and what's with the other languages like German, French, Spanish, etc).
Sure, the i300 is/was a fine device, unfortunately a little bit outdated when it
came out and maybe the i300x is the real device (with Windows Mobile 5.0)
everybody awaited as the initial release? I cannot say from here but if you have
ordered it, you might want to share your experiences with us.
BTW: I've ordered once or twice from doml.com and they looks absolutely trustable; at
least my order(s) arrived in time.
Nevertheless, what makes me a little bit wonder is the fact that the British
Samsung site isn't mentioning the i300x anymore (it's the place where it
appeared the first time). Either it is discontinued (before it was officially
released) and doml.com is just selling the only produced batch or I don't know.
Cheers ~ Arne
