As announced last month, yesterday Taiwanese mobile operator Chunghwa Telecom (CHT) launched its own-brand CHT 9000 3G Windows Mobile Pocket PC Phone Edition and therefore CHT is the first operator, which introduced the HTC Hermes commercially.
The CHT 9000, which runs on Microsoft's Windows Mobile 5.0 OS is sporting tri-band UMTS, quad-band GSM, GPRS and EDGE as well as W-LAN and Bluetooth, features a 2 megapixel camera for photos and videos as well as a QCIF camera on the front for video telephony. It seems to got some tweaks from HTC since it also features a RSS reader, which isn't a standard application for Windows Mobile devices (yet).
The CHT 9000, which is - as reported before already - manufactured by HTC and distributed by Dopod International , is targeting the business sector (is RSS such a business application in Taiwan).
Without a contract, the CHT 9000 is available for around US$ 790, but subsidized it can be reduced to as low as US$ 377, depending on the plan.
Cheers ~ Arne
