While
Windows Mobile 6.5 is
just
launched tomorrow as Windows phone and
Microsoft My Phone
is currently
down for maintenance, Microsoft today launched
Windows Marketplace
for Mobile already. Microsoft Marketplace
allows for searching, browsing and purchasing mobile applications from Windows
phones (or soon from a PC). The new marketplace will be included with all
Windows phones based on Windows Mobile 6.5, which will help consumers to easily
find, install and experience those applications that fit their needs and make
the phone truly personal. It's featuring free and paid apps and is available in
localized versions already.

Like the recently update Android 1.6 Market, Microsoft's Marketplace also
features screenshots of the offered applications. The use of Windows Marketplace
for Mobile requires a Windows Live ID. Furthermore, as
Microsoft unveiled
earlier this summer, Windows Marketplace for Mobile will also hit Windows Mobile
6 and 6.1 devices later this year.
