After Palm has released its first 1.1.x Facebook Beta two weeks ago, the second Beta was released just recently and it comes with a good amount of enhancements. Furthermore, and unlike the first Beta, this version is also available for international Palm Pre (Plus) and Palm Pixi (Plus) users. According to the Palm blog, the top requested feature is for access to Facebook notifications and so notifications became the focus of Palm's second Beta: Facebook 1.1.2. This release features two kind of notifications: Facebook notifications and webOS notifications which Palm wanted to marry. If a new Facebook notification occurs, a banner and dashboard will alert you to the info and you can get directly to that info.
At the moment, the most recent notification is shown and you can get to the notifications scene if you tap on the icon and badge on the left. In the future Palm plans to provide an easy way to flip through notifications right in the dashboard so you don't even have to go into the main app to see what is happening.
However, Facebook 1.1.2 Beta isn't about notifications only but there are other little features and fixes in this Beta as well including: Keyboard shortcuts now use Palm's native "gesture area + key" support which includes a drop down "Navigate to…." area , formatting of content has been fixed (blank lines separating content), no HTML tags in Inbox (no more <br>) and if you launch the Facebook app when already running, it simply refreshes the feed.
Palm's Facebook Beta 1.1.2 is now available through the direct link bellow or via AppScoop and is open to all Palm webOS smartphone users around the world!
