BROWSER: First Opera for Pocket PC screenshots appeared

Sweet! Until its release of Opera for Smartphone, Opera always denied that it will go to release a Pocket PC version sooner or later but with the official release of Opera for Smartphone, Opera also announced that a "Pocket PC version is under development".
Now got its hands on a first version and has published three screenshots of Opera for Pocket PC, running on a VGA Fujitsu Siemens Pocket Loox 720:

With the left and right soft-buttons on the bottom, this version looks pretty much as it will be optimized for Windows Mobile 5.0 which utilize soft-buttons and yes, it looks promising! If I can add just one wish I have for the Opera developers: use the Pocket Internet Explorer Bookmark/Favorite file-system instead of your own. In this case, Mobile Favorites would continue to work for Opera users which would give me a good reason to switch to Opera on both: Smartphone and Windows Mobile.
Neither a release date (neither for a first public Beta nor for the final version) nor a price was announced yet but I expect to see it available latest end of this year since Opera already made good experiences with the Opera for Smartphone developments.

Cheers ~ Arne

I hope they don't make it as bloated as NetFront is...

Yeah, right. NetFront is way too much and kills my i-mate JAM every third try if I have other apps running in the background.
As much experience NetFront should have with small footprint browsers (they do most of the imode browsers for the DoCoMo mobile phones) as bad is the Pocket PC implementation, even if it is powerful!
Now let's wait and see what Opera will deliver.

You can actually install Opera for SmartPhones on PPC with WM5, but no touch screen support though
