One of the best and most important software (for me) is now released in version 3.0 and therefore Windows Mobile 2003 compatible and also includes tons of new features: Southway Corporation's MultiIE 3.0:

To coincide with the Pocket PC Summit 2003, Southway Corporation is proud to announce the release of MultiIE 3.0.

MultiIE is the multi award winning enhancement for Pocket Internet Explorer. Pioneering PocketIE enhancements such as multiple windows, full screen mode and hardware button mapping, MultiIE version 3.0 brings Pocket PC users the next generation in mobile web surfing enhancements.

MultiIE version 3.0 offers more than 20 new innovative features, including:

  • Opening windows in the background
  • Tabbed window list
  • Page loading status
  • Page loaded events
  • A new quick full screen button toggle, a URL builder (never type again)
  • Enhanced GO button (instantly submit text to your favorite portals).

MultiIE integrates with 3rd party solutions to provide screen rotation for landscape viewing (NYDITOT - Virtual Display), and dynamic web page br>reformatting (Green Light Wireless - Skweezer service).

A 15 day trial version of MultiIE 3.0 is available for download from MultiIE's homepage can be purchased for only US$14.95.

For a limited time MultiIE 3.0 is also available as a FREE upgrade to existing users.

MultiIE is compatible with ALL versions of Pocket PC and Pocket IE, including PPC, PPC2002, PPC/Phone Edition, WM2003.

Peter, the brain behind MultiIE heavily beta tested version 3.0 during the past weeks and I was able to join the Beta in an early stage and it's amazing how much he improved it - compared to the previous version and specially the new features are worth to buy it at all!

MultiIE is still the best Pocket Internet plug-in and includes features others haven't heard about... ;-) My top features are for sure opening multiple windows, screen drag which lets you scroll though the site with the stylus (pretty hand on non PDA optimized sites) and for sure fullscreen view.

Highly recommended for every mobile surfer... :!:

Cheers ~ Arne

Apparently it is still in the Betaversion. The website mentioned only offers Multiie vs2.

Please inform us when version 3 will be available officially.

It is released today, together with the Pocket PC Summit in Las Vegas. However, because of the time zone difference it might takes some hours for Peter to bring it online.

In any case I've already downloaded the latest version so the files are on the server - I think Peter only needs to update the page!

As yo can all see, the new features are really cool.

But what's really excellent is the ability for it to be configured for your own liking.

I'll be postig a follow up to Arne's article and it will tackle how to make full use of Multi-IE.

I just love this product!!!

Hey Guys, I'm trying to find an easier way to view OWA on a Pocket PC.  Would this open a new window in OWA when I select an email to read and respond to?  Can you test for me?

Arne, OWA=Outlook Web Access.  My corporation blocks pop and imap mail, so the only way to get my email off of the corporate server when I'm away from my laptop is through OWA.

Thanks,  Rob

@D.C. van der Zee and all the others: If you haven't seen it already, it's up now! :-D Go for it and give it a try!

@Rob Cornelssen: Ah, thought about it too but just wanted to make sure.

Unfortunately I can't test it because I don't have OWA running anywhere... :-( Sorry but best might be if you give it a try and let us know if it worked for you!

It is one of the most important applications I’ve ever used. I bought MultiIE in 19 September 2002, since then I am using it everyday. I’m glad they provided WM2003 support big_smile

It will not be any help with OWA.  The messages in OWA open in a new window via a java applet - to get this to work you need to install a java machine on your hand held device.  How do i know? because i'm having the same problem, and finding/installing java on the hand held is proving to be one of the biggest IT challenges i have ever had! and i'm a Systems Admin!
