news reached us from HP this morning. According to an article at CNET Asia, HP -
the "Grand Dame" of Pocket PCs - has no plans to provide Windows Mobile 6
upgrades for their current line of Windows Mobile 5.0 devices, namely the HP
iPAQ hw6900, iPAQ rw6800, iPAQ rx4000 and rx5000 series.
The computer giant cited "the potential for long delays, as well as possible
carry-over costs" to its customers as reasons for this decision. Beside not
offering any upgrades for existing customers, HP will also continues to offer
these devices with Windows Mobile 5.0 only.
Only HP's future devices will come with Microsoft's latest Windows Mobile
version, starting with HP's first Windows Mobile Smartphone, the
HP iPAQ 512 Voice Messenger
which was announced during the 3GSM World Congress back in February.
Cheers ~ Arne
