First rumors appeared some days ago over at FirstLoox, today the German PR Manager of Fujitsu Siemens Computers, Lothar Lechtenberg, confirmed that FSC has canceled the previously announced plans to offer a Windows Mobile 5.0 upgrade for the Fujitsu Siemens Pocket Loox 718 and 720 Pocket PC devices.
According to him, the reason for the cancellation are technical difficulties, FSC figured out.
Also canceled seems the plan to launch follow-up devices (Pocket Loox 750 and 760) but instead, the manufacture plans to launch a new Pocket Loox C-series which isn't known in details yet.
It's expected that the first device, the C550, will feature a VGA screen, will definitely run with Windows Mobile 5.0 and should use 128 MB ROM/64 MB RAM with support for Bluetooth and W-LAN.
Wow, that's bad news for Loox 700-series customers because I know some who bought their device even after the launch of Windows Mobile 5.0 because they were sure to upgrade to Windows Mobile 5.0 later anyway. Some of them, I even recommended the 700-series because I was sure FSC will release a 5.0 upgrade.
Cheers ~ Arne
