Is official now,  O2 UK has canceled the O2 Xda Zinc, the previously unveiled 3G Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC Phone Edition the carrier originally planned to release in January. According to an O2 spokeswoman, "the Zinc (which was developed by AsusTek) failed to pass the carrier's network tests".
However, it's not yet clear if O2 Asia will continues the Xda Zinc or if the Asian reseller will cancel it as well.

In any case, O2 UK found a sweet alternative to the Zinc. No, unfortunately not the HTC Kaiser but the HTC Hermes which is on sale from O2 Germany for more than 9 months already and also O2 UK will carry it as O2 Xda Trion (see the::unwired's review of the O2 Xda trion here).

Oh yes, and this time it seems to be confirmed that the Xda Trion will definitely hit the UK now, at least it already appears on the carriers outlook page:

A price wasn't given yet.

Cheers ~ Arne
