Seems there is a new trend to give the customers a new reason to buy cameraphones: moblogging! After O2 Germany, who launched his Moblog last week, now Siemens is showing-off a Moblog solution at CeBIT where they partner with 20six.
However, unlike the MMS-based O2 solution, Siemens is showing its new CX 75 mobile phone which includes a Java application. This application lets you select the category to post to, provides you an article title and body prompt and allows you to take a picture right from the application to post it then via GPRS to your personal Moblog:
Honestly I have to smile a little bit how the cellular industry is picking-up web trends now to feature up their phones and services. While blogging and moblogging was something for geeks only, not that far away - now it seems to become a serious business opportunity for the GSM world. What's next - Podcasts? ;-) Why not - downloading a 10 MB Podcast via GPRS or UMTS is a real revenue opportunity, however with today's GPRS and UMTS fees the customer will do it exactly two times: the first and the only time.
Cheers ~ Arne
