CHARGING: Boxave's miniSync for HTC Himalaya available

Boxwave, the maker of the famous miniSync USB sync and charge solution (see my previous review here) has recently released it's miniSync for the HTC Himalaya platform (PPCW.Net i-Mate Phone Edition, O2 xda II, T-Mobile MDA II) which allows you to sync and charge your device with every PC which has a USB port!

For me the miniSync solution is the best and most recommended way to charge devices during traveling or on the office.
In combination with Boxwave's car and wall charger you can also use this solution without USB enabled PCs.

The wall charger is available for US$14.95 while every miniSync costs US$ 15.50 only - maybe the cheapest way to get a full set of flexible chargers.
All miniSync products are available from Boxwave's web shop (affiliate link below) and shipped worldwide!

Cheers ~ Arne

I thought the connectors on the XDA I and II were the same.. so shouldn't they just have updated their site to include the XDA II (and ship the same XDA I minisync) or am I missing something and they released a whole new minisync?

The connectors are the same but I have the feeling HTC changed the pins...

Will talk with Boxwave about it!

I just got the boxwave yesterday and used it to charge overnight and the unit is completely drained this morning! Not even sure if it's working. No lights anythere except when the boxwave is taken off and put on again to charge or the charging unit is used. Any idea's Arne. I'm leaving it to charge via the cradle all day today it see if it comes back up.

Do you used the xda or xda II miniSync from Boxwave?

Posted by cheekymonkey on 21.11.03 - 14:34:07

I got the xda 1 Lil Sync (essentially the same device as per Boxwave's) for my xda 2 and the results are erratic to say the least: sometimes it charges, sometimes it doesn't even give the trickle charge. On a number of occasions I've only been able to get some more power into it by turning the screen off whilst its connected, otherwise it drains as when standalone.

Hello Arne, I bought the one for the XDA II. The product is listed as MiniSync, O2/XDA II Pockect PC Phone. It's also compatible with the Dell X5 from what the web site says.

@Arne.I did have the screen on while charging and the device was effectivly left on while on external power / chraging power. So although it is charging it should not be a factor. I've sent boxwave cust service an e-mail about it. The device is recharging now via the usb on the cradle.

@cheekymonkey and lvermont: I have contact Boxwave also regarding the problems you've reported here. Personally I think HTC made some changes in the pin structure and I want to get it confirmed from Boxwave now. Will let you know as soon as I have a feedback!

I am also anxious for your input. Last week ordered miniSync + ClearTouch + European Wall Charger and expect to receive items by next week. Hope miniSync works or I have to make some cut and welding job.

@Arne. I got feedback from boxwave. Most excellent customer service. I'll be assisting them in resolving some issues with the product.

I have a Lil Sync from and use it with my Imate.   I have no issues.  It syncs and charges to 100% and stays there.

Like many power/sync cable distributor, they are not researching enough to just sell XDA cable for XDA II users.  I have bought 2 cables of such nature already and one of them belongs to Boxwave and they do not work!  It just drain your power away and I'm not even sure if continue charging it may burnt my XDA II or not.  I am getting my refund for sure and without a working cable, the car adapter and USB power adapter is also of no use for now.
