Not that video telephony is anything new, it was introduced before with ISDN and went mobile with UMTS, but it looks like only the Internet made it popular and Apple made it mobile recently. Anyway, Google has announced today that it's launching Google Talk with video and voice chat for Android phones. It now allows to video and voice chat with friends, family or colleagues - right from a supported Android phone, whether the chat partners are on their compatible Android tablet or phone or using Gmail with Google Talk on their computer.

Google Talk with video and voice chat can make calls over a 3G or 4G data network (if supported by the carrier) or - for sure - over WiFi.
Google Talk with video and voice chat will gradually roll out to Nexus S devices in the next few weeks as part of the Android 2.3.4 over-the-air update and will launch on other Android 2.3+ devices in the future.
Cheers ~ Arne
