While Palm lost its believe into the Palm Folio Smartphone Companion it seems there is truly a market for Super-Subnotebooks which the Asus Eee PC surprisingly proved. Therefore Celio Corporation's REDFLY Mobile Companion might has some serious chances to become a winner too. Officially announced today in Las Vegas, Celio Corp's REDFLY Mobile Companion extends the smartphone platform to a larger display, keyboard and mouse using REDFLY's software and hardware technology. The REDFLY and a smartphone create a single mobile platform for easy access to E-Mail, attachments, web and business applications.

The REDFLY employs a sleek clamshell design that includes an 8" high-resolution display, a full function keyboard and a touchpad mouse. Measuring just 2.5 x 15.2 x 22.9 cm and only 907 gram, the REDFLY offers 8 hours of battery life with instant-on access and the ability to power smartphones via USB. The REDFLY also has a standard VGA port for output to projectors and displays.

The REDFLY Mobile Companion connects to the smartphone via USB or Bluetooth, extending the smartphone platform and eliminating the need for synchronization or development of applications on another platform - applications running on the smartphone are adjusted to higher resolution and appear on the larger REDFLY display.

"The technology in the REDFLY Smartphone Interface System is a true innovation," said Bill Hughes, Principal Analyst for Scottsdale, Ariz.-based research firm In-Stat. "This is a technology with the potential to revolutionize the way users view and utilize smartphones today."

"Market analysts and our early business users are indicating that their greatest need is for a device that gives them full functionality without introducing yet another set of applications and data to manage, backup and secure. REDFLY allows the smartphone to use its current applications, management and security within a new mobile computing environment," said Kirt Bailey, president and CEO of Celio Corp. "We strongly believe this strategy gives mobile computing the potential to move well beyond its current limitations."

The REDFLY Mobile Companion has several essential features for mobile executives. Its USB ports are compatible with USB flash drives to allow easy access to files and data. It also has a standard VGA port for connection to projectors and displays. This allows users to easily display PowerPoint slide decks, photos, or any other content on the smartphone without modification. Because the REDFLY settings and user data remain on the smartphone, the REDFLY adds no additional management, backup, security or potential risk of data loss. The combination of the REDFLY Mobile Companion and a smartphone creates the ultimate single mobile computing platform and eliminates the need for single function devices.

The REDFLY Mobile Companion is compatible with selected Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC and Smartphone editions and Windows Mobile 6.0 Professional and Standard editions. The REDFLY Interface Software will be available for other operating systems in the future.
The REDFLY Mobile Companion will be available from Celio Corp. in March, 2008 for US$ 499 directly from Celio Corp.
