CONCEPT: TechFaith Wireless works on a Dual SIM Card Windows Mobile Smartphone

Pocket PC Dubai reports today about a new TechFaith Wireless Windows Mobile smartphone which is quite unique (but it seems to become a new trend) by supporting two SIM cards in one device. According to Pocket PC Dubai, the new device, which is codenamed "Cynthia", will sports Windows Mobile 6 Professional, supports quad- or triband GSM/GPRS/EDGE (depending on the CPU) as well as Bluetooth 2.0, a 2 megapixel camera and 64 MB/256 MB ROM (again depending on the CPU version). What makes me kind of wonder is the time-line which says "working samples ready in April and release in July". Hey, we have October already and not a single indication of the Cynthia on the horizon:

According to Pocket PC Dubai, the TechFaith Wireless Cynthia will be carried by several distributors, including i-mate. Further release dates aren't given today so let us wait and see if the Cynthia will ever make it to the market or not. But anyway, definitely an interesting concept, having two different SIM cards supported in one single device, as long as I can access both SIM cards in parallel without switching the device off and on.

Cheers ~ Arne
