Following Microsoft's earlier announcement of Windows Phone 8, HTC has just issued a press release in which it pledged its ongoing support of Microsoft by backing the new Windows Phone 8 platform. Building on the two companies' long mobile partnership dating back to 2000 and including more than 40 million phones sold, HTC will be bringing new Windows Phone 8 smartphones to market later this year. While HTC was pretty focused on Android, Peter Chou, CEO of HTC, said that HTC is committed to Windows Phone more than ever and HTC is excited to be bringing new Windows Phone 8-enabled smartphones to customers later this year.

HTC has neither detailed plans to upgrade today's Windows Phones 7.5s to 7.8 nor made any further announcements when we can expect the first Windows Phone 8 from HTC.

Cheers ~ Arne
