Doesn't matter if you run a Windows server at work, a Media Center at home or just your own 24/7 connected PC, Microsoft's Remote Desktop is the tool of choice to administrate and configure your computer without having it necessarily in reach. Remote Desktop is one of the many Microsoft programs which were always preinstalled on Windows PCs but now it's going even more mobile. Yesterday evening, Microsoft has released Remote Desktop for Android and iOS, which allows to conveniently connect to a remote PC or server as well as to work resources from almost anywhere. Remote Desktop Mobile for Android even provides access to remote resources through a Remote Desktop Gateway.

Other features include rich multi-touch experience with remote desktop protocol (RDP) and RemoteFX supporting Windows gestures, secure connection to data and applications with breakthrough Network Layer Authentication (NLA) technology, simple management of all remote connections from the connection center and high quality video and sound streaming with improved compression and bandwidth usage.

Microsoft Remote Desktop Mobile for Android requires Android 2.2 and up and is now available free of charge from the Google Play store.

Cheers ~ Arne
