If you are an Orange SPV C500 owner, I'm sure you remember my last posting about the cradle, Chris recently designed and sold via ebay.
Yesterday evening, Chris informed me that he released version 2 which looks even more stylish and fits the C500 better:

I just posted pics of the latest on MoDaCo forum, a new design with more phone support, style AND black cables as requested by almost all MoDaCo users. These will be on ebay next week.

Version 2 looks fantastic and depending on the requests and support, he is even able to design a cradle for the T-Mobile SDA (which has basically the same housing as the i-mate SP3i) and the i-mate JAM (which has the same housing as the T-Mobile compact and O2 Xda II mini).
Check the MoDaCo thread to get more information.

What do you think about the C500 cradle and how much do you miss a cradle for your i-mate JAM/SP3i?

Cheers ~ Arne

A cradle is always welcome for any mobile computing equipment as it allows for better placement, viewability and functionality of operation whilst desktop-bound. That said, a cable is an absolute necessity while mobile - who'd want to lug yet another bulky piece equipment in our already overladen bags?

[1] True but you still have the original USB cable anyway to use for sync and charge. But you are right, I wouldn't take a (heavy) cradle with me on trips.

[2] It weighs 125g, 70mm dia at the base, not too bulky or weighty. As small as I could possibly make it and still have it function. Balance, stability, internal space for cabling etc.

I'm unclear if the SP3i needs a different version to the SPV500? I'd like one as it's sorely missed by my wife, who has just changed fron a SPV200 to a SP3i and hates not having a cradle.

[5] Sorry, mine doesn;t take the SP3i.  Have a google for 'SP3i expansys' they do an aftermarket one, not pretty but functional! big_smile

The C550 version on ebay also fits the SPV C600.
