DELAYS: Power Outages and No Internet Connection

This is definitely off-topic, but it still gives one an idea as to how bad things can get. We just got hit by a typhoon and strong winds have sent powerlines down. To make things worse, my phone lines refuse to cooperate leaving me with a very erratic connection. One minute I'm connected and one minute I'm not. Of course I had my SMART Amazing Phone and what a better time to make use of it right? Sad to say, it too failed to maintain a reliable connection which left me a whole day to actually test the Windows Mobile 2003 for Pocket PC.

Sure, that was good, well becasue Day 7 of the test drive is extremely delayed. So off I went to use the Windows Mobile 2003 powered ASUS MyPal A620. What I was particularly concerned about was the effet it would have on me if I were to revert back to using Pocket PC 2002.

Find out my feedback on Windows Mobile 2003 in my next Article.

Hi Carlo!

I've seen the pictures about the typhoon in Manila and later in Hong Kong on TV and I'm happy that everything (beside connectivity) is fine with you!

I attend a typhoon one time on the Philippines (in a bamboo cottage at Palawan) and since this night I know what typhoon means! :-(

Take care ~ Arne

If you were in a typhoon, why were you trying to connect?  Seems to me that you would want to be running for shelter.

@Suz: That's why I stayed home. It's just that we have a lot of trees around the house which took down the powerline that goes to the house itself.  We had no electricity for most of the day and if ever we had electricity, it would go on and off... so itwas our decision to simply shut down the main powerswitch of the house to prevent damaging the appliances.

No need to seek for shelter really... not in my area at least. But I heard the Microsoft office here whch is at the 22nd floor of a building had its window glass rattling... and that rarely happens.

So... bottom line is I was safe at home... although without power or a reliable internet connection... sad

Hi Arne!

Thanks! Everything is fine here. Actually everything was back to normal the very next day...

I was hoping though that I could be connected anytime, anywhere and on any device... Well I think technology is still no match for the powers of nature.
