DEVELOPMENT: Is Google working on a Mobile Device Sync Client?

Seriously, I have no idea how old this information is, what's the status of the project is or who the lead developer is and well, Google's "Google Code" page isn't saying too much except that it's mentioning a project called "mobisync" which should be a "Generic Mobile Synchronization" client and "aims to build a generic data synchronization framework for all mobile devices".

While "all mobile devices" would includes Windows Mobile devices as well:


Maybe this is the missing all-in-one Google-generic sync client for Gmail, Google Calendar and other Google web services?
