While Spotify is coming to more and more countries, its Android app staid the same for some time and users with Android 4.0 devices, especially with the new HTC One-series smartphones massively reported from problems with the current app. Today, Spotify has released a public preview of its next Android version which is getting a complete overhaul. It's a totally new app with full support for Android 4.0, features a top-to-bottom redesign and a all-new slide-out navigation. It's even more social that the previous version and allows to check out friends' profile pages and playlists on the go. Artist imagery is now provided in high resolution and features related artist view - available for the first time on mobile.
"Extreme" sound quality setting allows for 320 kbps listening and it's, according to Spotify, so much faster (and hopefully more stable). Since it's a preview, it's not sporting all the features Spotify plans to include in the final release, but Spotify said on its blog, that its working hard on adding further features, including folders and Last FM scrobbling.
In order to get your hands on the all-new Android preview, firstly set your phone to allow installation from "Unknown Sources". Once that's done, it can bit installed from the Spotify blog posting.
Cheers ~ Arne
