As expected, Nokia and Telefónica today announced its exclusive partnership to offer a 64 GB variant of the Nokia Lumia 1020 - allowing people to capture and share even more stunning pictures with the highest resolution smartphone camera, available on a smartphone. Running Windows Phone 8, the Nokia Lumia 1020 64 GB will be available on the O2 network in the UK, Czech Republic and Germany, the Vivo Network in Brazil, and the Movistar networks in Spain, Chile, Mexico, plus others.
The Nokia Lumia 1020 64 GB produces incredibly detailed images thanks to Nokia's innovative PureView technology which includes 41 megapixels, Zeiss optics with six lenses and optical image stabilization - delivering an unrivaled capture, zoom and sharing experience.

To help people take better pictures with ease, Nokia Pro Camera boosts creativity with the versatility to capture more of the moment and then tweak, edit and reframe the perfect shot later. With a simple to use interface that visually demonstrates how settings will affect the final photo or video, Nokia Pro Camera simplifies features usually reserved for professional cameras and teaches users how to take superior photos.

The Telefónica 64 GB exclusive stores over 3,000 high-res (16 MB) pictures, whilst offering more space for the 175,000 apps available on the Windows Phone Store. The personal nature of Windows Phone makes it the perfect platform for the Nokia Lumia 1020 64 GB, showcasing live images on the Start screen with the Photos tile, quick sharing to social networks, and easy access to files across a number of devices with SkyDrive Cloud services, accessible in real time with Telefónica's 4G network.

Telefónica's 4G networks allow users to take full advantage of the Nokia Lumia 1020 64 GB's capabilities by providing higher speed data transmission. Compared to regular 3G, Telefónica's 4G LTE is over 4x faster, allowing users to upload photos in just seconds. However, the Nokia Lumia 1020 is only supporting cat 3 which means a maximum downstream of 100 Mbps, compared to latest cat 4 developments which offers downstream of up to 150 Mbps.

The Nokia Lumia 1020 64 GB's impressive imaging capabilities are not limited to still photos. It also records HD video in 1080p at 30 frames per second and offers 4x zoom without losing quality (6x in HD 720p). These advanced features, combined with Telefónica's 4G, amplify the video experience by allowing real-time video sharing with uploading speeds of over 30 seconds of recording per minute, making videos more social and engaging.

Currently, Telefónica has active 4G networks in the UK, Germany, Czech Republic, Brazil, Mexico, and Spain with several other markets launching by the end of this year.

The new Nokia Lumia 1020 64 GB will be available in Germany today, starting at 19 Euro upfront and 27.50 Euro per month with MyHandy. In the UK, pre-orders will begin today starting at £0 upfront and £37 per month on O2 refresh with a bonus accessories kit worth over £200. In Spain and Brazil, the Nokia Lumia 1020 64 GB will be launching in October, with offers starting at 24€ per month in Spain and competitive pricing on pre-orders in Brazil.

Like the 32 GB version, Telefónica's Lumia 1020 64 GB will be available in yellow, white and black.

Cheers ~ Arne

Do you know if it's SIM lock free on O2 Germany? I'm on D1 but would like to get the 64 GB version. Thanks!

I would expect it's without SIM-lock. Traditionally O2 has no SIM-lock and since you can get it on MyHandy you can get it contract free. But I will verify with O2 Germany!
UPDATE: I've spoken with O2 and as expected, it's without SIM-lock! :-)
