Five days after i-mate released their first patch to solve the Bluetooth headset problem, today i-mate released the Bluetooth Patch # 2 for i-mate PDA2k:

This is the second patch which will improve the bonding between the i-mate PDA2k and other devices. With this patch the bonding between the i-mate PDA2k and Bluetooth headsets will be more robust, after the PDA2k has entered Power Save (Sleep) Mode because right now users have observed that:

  • when the i-mate PDA2k enters Sleep Mode for a period of time, any incoming voice call alert is not relayed via the Bluetooth link to the Bluetooth headset, so no audible alert is heard.
  • when the i-mate PDA2k is bonded to a Bluetooth headset and has entered Sleep Mode, the device will periodically wake-up while in an idle state, without prompting by the customer, leading to unnecessary power drain of the battery.

The patch does not correct the beaming problem between devices using the Brodcomm Bluetooth stack, like the i-mate PDA2k, and devices using the Microsoft Bluetooth stack. i-mate still working on a resolution to this issue. Some Jabra BT250 headsets will also still have audio quality issues and i-mate recommends contacting Jabra for a solution.

The Bluetooth Patch # 2 is available in several languages - depending on your device language. To determine the correct patch to install on your device tap "Start -> Settings -> System -> Device Information" and check the ROM version suffix, eg x.yy.zzz WWE.

The file is approx. 3.8 - 4 MB in size and available for free from i-mate's Club i-mate website. Please keep in mind that you have to be a registered Club i-mate member which is free for i-mate owners but possible for i-mate device owners only.

Cheers ~ Arne

I wish I-mate gets its act together.

They release a top end, expensive product and they can't seem to get the Bleutooth working properly.

Promise after promise, they keep false hope to customers on their forums in order for them not to switch to another stable product....

think about pda2k twice before shelling out the cash for it......
