Nokia Germany just informed via Facebook, that it has started to roll-out the first of expected two firmware updates for its Nokia Lumia 800 Windows Phone 7.5. According to Nokia, the firmware update contains performance and usability enhancements as well as the promised charging improvements. The update is now rolled-out to the first customers but it can take up to two weeks until it has reached all Lumia 800 users. Nokia confirmed late November, that some Lumia 800 have battery problems and said that the two patches are on the way to fix the problems. The second update is expected for early January and is said to introduce further enhancements to battery life and battery charging.
According to Nokia, the Lumia 800 update also includes voicemail notification improvements, replying to mail improved for Microsoft Exchange 2003 users, improved display switching in bright light and improved audio quality. Not yet confirmed is if the update will also contain the missing WiFi tethering update or not but our test device has just received the notification that an update is available. Stay tuned for further information!
UPDATE: I've now installed the update and unfortunately it's still not containing WiFi tethering. Looks like this will be brought in January only. Just in case you wonder, the new OS version is still "7.10.7740.16", this haven't changed from the mid-November update which already contained the Exchange 2003 and voicemail notification fixes.
Cheers ~ Arne
