GPRS CARD II: The first GPRS CF Card from Audiovox is hitting the street soon

As I wrote some weeks ago, Audiovox is working on a CF sized GPRS card which will become available soon - at least in Germany. Actually I didn't found any information on the US American Audiovox pages but ADVISE Telekommunikation KG, the German Audiovox distributor, already listed the card on its website for a price of around 220 €. That's what Audiovox already told me on CeBIT and I couldn't believe at that time (the price was given with 200 - 250 US$).

I should get a reviewers sample soon, so stay tuned. Here's what the RTM-8000 comes with:

Features:

  • CF Card
  • GSM triple-band card supporting GSM 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz
  • GPRS Class B up to 4 Tx and 1 Rx
  • External antenna
  • Pocket PC and Pocket PC 2002 software included
  • Headset for voice communication included

A CF card sized (the sample I saw on CeBIT looked like a Type I) would be perfect as it would works with all Pocket PCs expect the iPAQs (without the jacket). This means that also Audiovox Maestro, Toshiba Genio and Casio Cassiopeia users could start into the wireless world, without using an additional mobile phone!

Cheers ~ Arne
