Beginning immediately, golfers can try out StarCaddy golf yardage and GPS software live on the golf course, with the release of the new demo version of StarCaddy. For the first time, Palm and Pocket PC PDA owners can select a free trial map of their choice with the downloadable trial version. This allows users to experience all of StarCaddy's features by actually taking it along with them when they play a round of golf.

StarCaddy is an easy-to-use software package for Palm and Pocket PC PDAs that creates the ultimate tool for getting accurate yardages on the golf course. Golfers can use StarCaddy to determine the exact yardage to any course feature (greens, hazards etc), keep score and take the guesswork out of their game. StarCaddy uses digital course maps created from satellite and aerial imagery to display the exact position of the golfer and all course features.

Features

  • Simple, map-based graphical interface
  • Ability to measure exact distances to the green, doglegs, sand traps, water hazards or any other course feature
  • Information on tees, yardage and handicap for each hole
  • Full color digital course maps available for thousands of courses
  • Electronic scorecard keeps track of score and side bets
  • StarCaddy offers a Compact Flash GPS receiver for highly accurate position and distance information
  • StarCaddy is available for Pocket PC and Palm OS
  • StarCaddy's GPS receiver also works with popular GPS navigation software.

The new demo version of StarCaddy can be downloaded for free from StarCaddy's website and other selected software download sites. As part of the installation process, the user can choose a course from a selection of thousands of free trial maps. Trial maps are identical to a full StarCaddy map, but only the first nine holes can be used.

Users who download the demo version of StarCaddy are free to use it as much as they wish with their trial course map. StarCaddy can be upgraded to the full version, which includes one full course map, by purchasing an activation code online. The suggested retail price of the full version of StarCaddy golf yardage and GPS software is $49.95.

Cheers ~ Arne

At $20 per course download, it sure makes me consider what ToThePin.com for $40 and no course charges or just about anything else!
