has reported that Microsoft expects that more than 30 smartphones running on
Windows Mobile 6.5, from a total of over 15 handset vendors, are to be launched
before the end of 2009. This information was given by Benjamin Tan, senior
director, GCR Mobile Team Unit at Microsoft China, when he recently met a group
of journalists in China. According to market sources, HTC, Acer, Samsung, LG
Electronics, Sony Ericsson, Toshiba and (even) and Hewlett-Packard have already
expressed and confirmed their support for Microsoft's upcoming mobile OS.
Furthermore, it was already unveiled by Microsoft, that carriers from around
the world, including AT&T, Sprint Nextel, Verizon Wireless, Orange, O2,
T-Mobile, Vodafone, NTT DoCoMO, Softbank Mobile, SKT, Telstra and Telus, have
also voiced support for Windows Mobile 6.5.
Windows Mobile 6.5 will be officially introduced next month on October 6th.
An immediate availability of new Windows Mobile 6.5 smartphones as well as
upgrades is expected the same day.
