LAUNCH: O2 Germany to release the Xda IIi Pocket PC Phone Edition soon

Sometimes it takes a little bit longer but better later then never. ;-) Yesterday, O2 Germany informed me that they are close to release the long awaited O2 Xda IIi Pocket PC Phone Edition I've previewed the first time back in November last year.

According to O2 Germany (in UK it's already launched) the Xda IIi should become available anytime beginning May (which is next month, not that far away anymore) and now they are pretty happy with the stability of the device. Also the Homezone application was completely redesigned to work better and save more battery which results in longer stand-by time! :-)

A price wasn't given yet but the Xda IIi should become cheaper then the Xda III while it features a newer (and more powerful) Intel Bulverde CPU with 520 MHz and a 1.3 megapixel camera.

In my humble opinion, the Xda IIi is the better Xda and waiting for it was worth. However, unfortunately it isn't coming in the stylish Xda III black/anthracite but in the well known Xda II silver. Nevertheless, no other carrier (neither Vodafone nor T-Mobile) is carrying the HTC Alpine (the code name of the Xda IIi) which makes it quiet exclusive.

Cheers ~ Arne

Is this the same size as the i-mate JAM or the bigger PDA2k?

No, it's the same size as the Xda II aka HTC Himalaya. Like the PDA2K it's a "full-size" Pocket PC but slightly thinner.

299,95... wink Not to mention with an O2 Active 100. With Genion it's a little bit more if I remember right.

It will doing very well! I have the launch-version here and beside the size (after I've used the JAM) it's the best Phone Edition you can get today.
