I was lucky enough to be invited to the local launch of O2's latest product for Asia Pacific and the Middle East. Set in the Orchidarium and Butterfly Pavilion in Manila, the attendees were treated to a dinner during the launch of the Xda Atom Life. This also gave me the opportunity to have a chat with Mark Billington, CEO for O2 Asia Pacific and Middle East.
"Many customers across the region still regard the PDA-phone as a business tool," said Mark Billington. "We certainly put a dent in that fallacy when we launched the Xda II mini - demonstrating that PDA-phones can be beautiful with lifestyle applications - and then cracked it further when we launched the Xda Atom. Today, we want to kick the door wide open with the Xda Atom Life and really open up the converged device market to more customers by demonstrating that PDA-phones can manage your life on all fronts - seamlessly fusing work and play; and meeting your needs, be they connectivity, productivity, or creativity, in one compact unit."
The Xda Atom Life doesn't stray away from the styling that has made the Atom a popular device. In fact, it even carries a hint of a few styling queues from the original Xda II mini. Clad in high-gloss black with chrome band, the Xda Atom Life is geared as the ultimate lifestyle tool to wherever life takes you.
Product highlights included the fastest processor on a PDA phone with a 624MHz PXA 270 processor. 3.5G data connectivity, Bluetooth 1.2, 802.11b/g connectivity, FM radio tuner with RDS function, stereo audio enhancements including SRS WOW HD technology, 2.0 mega pixel camera with macro mode, and the 1GB on board memory.
