German htcinside claims to have received information about an upcoming HTC smartphone which could possibly be HTC's first high-end Windows Phone 7.1 smartphone. According to the published information, the HTC Eternity (most likely a code-name only) will feature GSM/GPRS/EDGE as well as UMTS/HSDPA (up to 14.4 Mbps)/HSUPA (up to 5.76 Mbps) as well as WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, a G-sensor, a digital compass and a gyroscope. However, it's real highlights seems to be the massive 4.7" WVGA Super-LCD touchscreen, the rear-facing 8 megapixel camera, a front facing 1.3 megapixel camera and that the HTC Eternity is said to be powered by a 1.5 GHz Qualcomm MSM 8255 CPU!
Furthermore it's mentioned that the HTC Eternity is featuring DLNA (so far only the LG Optimus 7 supported DLNA on Windows Phone 7) and 16 GB of ROM. According to htcinside, it's expected that the HTC Eternity will be unleashed early fall which is also the expected release date of Windows Phone 7.1 aka Mango.
Other than that, it seems the HTC Eternity is build as a unibody design, like the HTC 7 Mozart or other latest HTC high-end smartphones.
There's yet no confirmation how valid the specs are, if it was a planned device which was later canceled or if HTC is really working on a Windows Phone killer-smartphone; but if the specs are true, it sounds quite promising.
Cheers ~ Arne
