as you might notice, there seems to be a slow down in PPCW.Net. But the truth
is, there has been so many things happening. Last Thursday, a group from the
MoDaCo Forum wanted to meet up and the main discussion tackled in the meeting
was, "What's with the new ROMs for the Smartphone."
For those who are running the new PPCW.Net i-Mate ROM, you might have noticed
that there are loads of improvements and really cool features which we've always
wanted Microsoft to include in them. Well, apparently there were some which
weren't even documented for us users.
We ended up with a fairly small group of ten attendees, all armed with Tanagers
and a Laptop. Of course we ventured into looking at the shortcomings of the
previous ROM, and flashing some of the Smartphones with the new improved PPCW.Net
Well you can see some of us here, I'm second from right.
So far these are the things we noticed, in addition to the noted improvements
of a working Character/SMS counter and the ability to send SMS to landline numbers
as well as other phone numbers in the Contacts list, it seems that you can easily
add "p" for pause and "w" for wait when inserting a number
into a Contacts list. Also, a cool feature which eeryone has been waiting for
is the ability to delete messages in bulk by folder. Yes, it is now possible
even without DAT SMS Tools.
Of course the Tasks Application is now more useful though not useful as that
of the Pocket PC's yet.
Anyway, that was Thursday, then there is Friday, yet another hectic day which
means I missed posting anything here. My apologies for that, but out of that
event comes a whole list of things to talk about.
It was the HP presentation during our PinoyPocketPC Mobility Event. Of course,
we had Wowie Wong of HP Philippines doing the presentation for the whole new
iPAQ range and he even hinted of several new products from HP that will be coming
sometime in the future (although no details were given). :-) Anyway, I did the
opening remarks for that event and I did a presentation on the new features
of the Windows Mobile 2003 Software for Pocket PC. This was the fun part because
I had Pocket Slides installed and I had Margi's latest WM2003 drivers for the
Presenter-to-Go CF card which I used for the presentation. It's just lovely
when you can do your presentation with such a small device such as an HP iPAQ
2210 with the Margi Presenter-to-Go CF card coupled to a projector.
Free food and drinks courtesy of HP Philippines and Mobile1.
Well, if you can see the screen, that's the slideshow I'm running with my HP
This Monday and Tuesday, Philippine time, I'll be on a business trip, but I'll
be armed with my Pocket PC and Smartphone, so that means I can stay intouch
and even update PPCW.Net. So watch out for m next posts which will be done wirelessly.
Mabuhay! ~ Carlo
