LOCKED: The HTC MTeoR only supports Signed Root Certificates at the moment

Okay, we got another information about the Root Certificate problem I was mentioning yesterday in my HTC MTeoR review. The problem is, that the HTC MTeoR only accepts signed Microsoft Root Certificates at the moment which means, you can not "application unlock" your device at the moment.
As a result, you are not allowed to install your own certificates to enable Push Mail over https (while Push Mail via http is working) but it also disallows the installation of some non-signed applications as well as changing some device settings (like reordering the Start menu shortcuts which I'm usually do).
According to HTC, the problem is known now and HTC is working on a fix. Nevertheless, at the moment there is neither a workaround nor a release date for the fix (a new ROM) known:

Dear Sir

At present the MTeoR will only accept signed Microsoft Root Certificates.
This is an issue that we are addressing, but at present do not have a solution, or an estimated time for a resolution.

Ok, now the question is "how much can go wrong" with such a release? As soon as I've heard more, I will let you know.

Cheers ~ Arne

I got another answer fron the HTC Support:

Dear Sir,

This unlock thing makes this unit impossible to use with my Tomtom.

A new rom is highly appreciated :-)

Any idea of when it will be released?

No, unfortunately I haven't heard anything yet but I hope soon. Nevertheless, normally a new ROM, doesn't matter how worse the old ROM is, takes at least 10 - 14 days minimum due to some necessary HTC and Microsoft tests.
And please don't ask me now if the current ROM was tested. wink
