to internal Microsoft statistics, Motorola and Samsung are the top Windows
Mobile Standard (non-touchscreen) smartphone manufactures now, referring HTC
(High Tech Computer) to rank 3 - as DigiTimes reports today.
This doesn't makes me wonder at all, especially in North America - where the
Motorola Q and the Samsung BlackJack were bestsellers, while the HTC offer of
Standard smartphones is quite limited at the moment. According to the sources,
Motorola, Samsung and HTC have been competing fiercely in the non-touchscreen
segment with each vendor accounting for a 20 - 30 % share globally, with
Motorola now leading with a small margin.
However, HTC still retained the number one title in the Windows Mobile-based
PDA phone segment, accounting for nearly a 50% share, according to the same data
while DigiTime mentioned that this market is becoming more competitive now also,
with offers from Samsung, LG Electronics, HP, Palm, Asus, E-Ten and and Gigabyte
