First time previewed during last month's 3GSM Congress, during the CTI Wireless i-mate unveiled more information about it's new X-Stream concept, which includes the X-Stream Digital Media Hub (DMH), which is a Windows Media Center Edition PC and LCD TV in one and the X-Stream Dock, a smart docking station for i-mate's new range of Windows Mobile smartphones.
The X-Stream DMH gives any-time any-place access & control of all your video, music & work files. The X-Stream DMH replaces many of the units found in the connected home and is the perfect example of technology convergence with integrated widescreen HDTV, HD-DVD, Personal Video Recorder (PVR), CATV receiver, DSL modem & wireless router all contained in a minimalist sleek frame that will fit into any interior, whatever the décor.

However, the X-Stream DMH goes even further. It is also a high-specification PC powered by Windows Vista Ultimate and i-mate's media management software. Everything that you need to build a digital library of all your digital photographs, camcorder footage, TV programs, movies and of course music. The power of X-Stream DMH is that you can access the content in your digital library at any-time from any-place

For places nearby, use the X-Stream Dock together with an i-mate Ultimate device to extend the media functions of the X-Stream DMH out to other rooms that are within wireless range. The audio & video outputs of the Dock connect straight into additional TV's & sound systems for round the house content distribution.

The X-Stream Dock goes beyond being a media range extender - connect the X-Stream Dock & Ultimate to a monitor, keyboard & mouse and get full PC functionality in your home-office while the kids are watching a HD DVD in the lounge. The Dock & Ultimate combination can even access files on your corporate servers - securely.

For places further away from home, use your Internet connected i-mate device to receive streamed content from your X-Stream DMH. Even control the PVR remotely using Windows SideShow technology and watch your favorite TV program or movie from the other side of the world.

Just because you are traveling does not mean that you can't benefit from your X-Stream DMH. With any Internet connected i-mate Windows Mobile device you can watch or listen to any item in your digital library wherever you are in the world. This includes controlling the personal video recorder & selecting your favorite program to stream to your device. i-mate have implemented the latest Windows SideShow technology on our range of mobile devices to allow remote control of applications running on Windows Vista. Inclusion of this technology will empower i-mate mobile devices to control not just the media functions but other X-Stream DMH applications as well. Examples might be those that perform home automation functions or activate security measures.

The i-mate view of the connected world goes beyond just entertainment and extends into business as well. All i-mate devices are supplied with our 1-View software to securely access any file that is stored on the X-Stream DMH, corporate laptop or server. Now, any of your files, stored on any device, can be accessed, edited and saved from anywhere there is mobile connectivity to your i-mate device.

This consolidated view & access to all your personal and business files can fundamentally change how you work - for the better. For example, gone are the days when the easiest way of working between home and office was to email file attachments backwards and forwards between your home and office desktop PCs. Now, with i-mate's 1-View you are assured that you can access and work on any file from anywhere.

The i-mate DMH is expected to be released this summer. Prices weren't given yet but keep in mind, that it is a full fletched Media Center PC and high definition LCD panel in one.

Cheers ~ Arne
