All right, with this year's Mobile World Congress in Barcelona just around the corner, it's the perfect time to let you know what the::unwired's plans are. As the years before, I will be on-site from Friday to Thursday (with some backend-support from Monday to Thursday) and generally speaking we plan to attend and cover smartphone-relevant press conferences, publishing the latest press releases, trying to get some hands-on time with newly announced devices, operating systems and services and covering the event by word (on the::unwired and Twitter) and multimedia (photos and videos on the::unwired).
Unlike the years before, where we mostly covered Microsoft's Windows Mobile aka Windows phone only, this year we will also cover Google's Android as well as Palm's webOS which includes press conferences as well as meetings with manufactures, ODMs and developers.
So what can you expect from this year's coverage?
- All Mobile World Congress 2010 related news and articles will be tagged with MWC10.
- Press conferences will be covered live and commented through the::unwired's Twitter channel, so please make sure you follow the::unwired on Twitter.
- Furthermore we plan to cover some of the most important press conferences with a live video stream (where possible and/or allowed) which for sure this requires either WiFi or a good UMTS coverage (we will see if/how this works). Press conference videos will be available later as video on demand streams. For sure, available live streams (as well as video on demand videos) will also be announced via the::unwired's Twitter channel.
- By using smartphones and Eye-Fi card equipped digital cameras, it's planned to constantly send photos to the::unwired's photo stream, doesn't matter if it is from press conferences, the show/exhibition, device or service hands-on or anything else interesting. New photo uploads will also be announced via the::unwired's Twitter channel.
UPDATE: The photo and video specials are now live and running some dummy content (which you might want to test out). You can either access the Mobile World Congress 2010 Specials via the main navigation or through direct links (you might want to bookmark):
Until the Mobile World Congress kicks-off Monday morning (CET) with first press conferences starting Sunday evening, feel free to add the::unwired to your Twitter account and/or make sure you are subscribed to our RSS feed to get the latest update if new articles, photos or videos are online!
See you in Barcelona, cheers ~ Arne
