Destinator Technologies unveiled it's latest navigation software for Windows Mobile at this year's CeBIT: "Destinator 6". Destinator 6 is the latest in a long line of solid product releases, building on the award winning "Destinator PN", "ND" and "SP" software. Numerous enhancements make Destinator 6 faster and easier to use than ever. With more ingenious functions, features and a completely redesigned user interface, Destinator 6 delivers power and innovation that's accessible by all.
An extension of the TMC service will be introduced together with Destinator 6: Thanks to new technology it will be possible to have international, up-to-date traffic information for a one-time license fee. Destinator 6 will be the first mobile system to combine the use of freely available information broadcast by radio stations and realtime traffic flow data from premium specialist service providers (for example RAC Trafficmaster RDS TMC in the UK) transmitted straight to the navigation device. Only a one off fee is needed instead of the user paying for a rolling subscription. With road traffic volumes on the rise across Europe and some roads already at saturation point, this provides business and private users a crystal ball that enables them to save time and money by avoiding traffic jams long before actually reaching them.
An exciting new feature showcased at the Destinator stand at CeBIT was navigation by means of destinations ("POIs") which have been requested via SMS and will be available later in spring. A new service allows Destinator users to query address data via SMS on a mobile phone. This information can be used as a destination for immediate navigation.
Destinator 6 will be available for both Pocket PCs and mobile phones later this spring with a single unified brand name: "Destinator 6".
Destinator was kind enough to provide a preview Beta of Destinator 6 and so far I can seriously say that Destinator 6 is the best Destinator ever! The new user interface makes the use of Destinator 6 that easy, that even a complete navigation newbie can easily find his way. So far I have played with the Pocket PC version only, can hardly await the Smartphone version.
