New at consumer electronics stores in North America and online on October 15, 2004! Pocket Streets transforms your Microsoft Windows Mobile–based Pocket PC, Pocket PC Phone or Smartphone into your personal guide to thousands of North American and Western European cities. With the Pocket Streets street-level mapping assistant and guide, your mobile device can take you where you want to go!

The Pocket Streets 2005 street-level mapping assistant and guide places powerful mapping technology in the palm of your hand! In Pocket Streets 2005, Microsoft have worked hard to bring you the best Pocket Streets ever.

New Features in Pocket Streets 2005

  • Find the nearest ATM, restaurant, shopping center, transportation, tourist attraction, or auto service center in a flash! Zoom in or out to see just what you want on a map.
  • Customize maps with personal points of interest.
  • Search for destinations and addresses by using partial names and "roam" maps to search for points of interest.
  • Link to a GPS device to indicate your realtime location on a map. You can easily switch back and forth between a map and GPS information, such as your current latitude and longitude.
  • View detailed, full-color maps to your device display.
  • Install Pocket Streets quickly ― easy installation means that you are ready to go in just a few minutes!
  • With your Pocket PC or Pocket PC Phone, you can copy maps to Microsoft Pocket Word to produce professional-looking agendas.
  • With your Pocket PC or Pocket PC Phone, you can plot a contact's address or map the location of your calendar appointment.

Enhancements in Pocket Streets 2005

  • Maps are faster and easier to open with Pocket Streets 2005 for Windows Mobile-based Pocket PCs. Pocket Streets 2005 opens with the most recently used map loaded instead of having to choose a map each time you open Pocket Streets.
  • The version of Pocket Streets 2005 for Windows Mobile-based Pocket PCs and Smartphones that you purchase from a consumer electronic store includes more than 300 maps of North America and more than 275 maps of Western Europe, as well as Microsoft ActiveSync 3.7.
  • GPS functionality is new in Pocket Streets 2005 for Windows Mobile-based Smartphones, and it is improved in Pocket Streets 2005 for Windows Mobile-based Pocket PCs.
  • You can view scale on the maps with Pocket Streets 2005.

The power of Pocket Streets 2005 lies in your ability to quickly and easily transfer maps to and from your Windows Mobile-based devices before you get on the road. Here are the ways that you can acquire maps to use with Pocket Streets 2005:

  • The packaged version of Pocket Streets 2005 includes over 300 maps of North America and over 275 maps of Western Europe.
  • You can download maps at no cost from the Microsoft Download Center. These maps include new maps of Australia, Greece, and Brazil.
  • If you are a licensed user of Microsoft MapPoint 2004 or later, Microsoft Streets & Trips 2004 or later or Microsoft AutoRoute 2004 or later, you can create and then copy any of a virtually unlimited number of maps onto your Microsoft Windows Mobile-based device that you can then use in Pocket Streets 2005.

Pocket Streets 2005 for Pocket PC and Pocket Streets 2005 for Smartphones are available separately online from Microsoft. The estimated retail price is US$ 24.95.

Cheers ~ Arne

great story. One thing you didn't mention: the maps you can download are covering a fair amount of countries and cities that haven't been available for previsous versions. I'm more than delighted to finally have maps for all major cities in Down Under on my PocketPC big_smile where other commercials offering for just a Sydney map are priced at 160 A$  8O
