NEWS: HP Releases the iPAQ hw6940 in the U.S.

This device has been available in other places for awhile now, but HP has now made it available on their U.S. website. The hw6940 is a Pocket PC device with built in QWERTY keyboard, EGPRS, Wi-Fi and GPS. It's probably one of the most complete mobiles out there today in terms of features, but unfortunately it does not support 3G and it has a terrible 240x240 resolution screen. Still, for those who don't care about such things it's a very nice device, just expect for your wallet to feel a tad lighter as it weighs in at a pricetag of $599.

This phone was originally rumored to be released by Cingular, and it may still be, but according to Mobility Today the process of getting this phone out may have strained the HP-Cingular relationship to the breaking point. If Cingular held up the U.S. release for this long, and it has been available in other place for awhile now, I can understand why HP might be peeved. Still, it's an intruiging phone and I'd like to see what the next incarnation looks like.
