Sony Ericsson Germany just announced the upcoming launch of the earlier unveiled Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 (code-named Shakira). As expected, the Xperia X8 is sized anywhere between the Xperia X10 and the Xperia X10 mini and is placed as an entry-level Android smartphone. Running Android 1.6 and powered by a 600 MHz CPU, the X8 features quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE as well as dualband UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA at 900/2100 MHz, WiFi b/g, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, aGPS/GPS and an FM RDS radio. The device sports a 3" HVGA (320 x 480) capacitive touchscreen which is also utilizing Timescape and the Android UX user interface. The camera supports 3.2 megapixel.
The Xperia X8 measures 99 x 54 x 15 mm and weights 104 g. It will be released in Q3-2010 and will be in Dark Blue/White, Aqua Blue/White, Pink/White und Silver/White. Without a contract, Sony Ericsson suggest a retail price of 219 Euro.
