Today I found the following information at T-Mobile's virtual press room about the MDA III Phone Edition:

T-Mobile MDA III: innovative product for mobile business data communications. (06/28/04)

T-Mobile MDA III with W-LAN technology and complete keyboard.

T-Mobile is providing even greater efficiency and convenience in mobile business data communications with innovative products. The integrated W-LAN technology in the new T-Mobile MDA III steps up the revs on mobile data exchange. The device also has a complete keyboard.

With the T-Mobile MDA III, T-Mobile is firmly continuing the success story of the Mobile Digital Assistant: The T-Mobile MDA is number one in the fast growing market for PDA phones in Germany, with a share of 40 percent (source: GfK, January 2004). The third version of the MDA will be available from September. Thanks to integrated W-LAN technology, the MDA III allows very fast data exchange via wireless local networks, or at T-Mobile and T-Com HotSpot locations. The device has a complete pull-out keyboard for inputting text easily and conveniently. The battery capacity has been increased by about 25 percent. The BlackBerry email push service is also scheduled to be available for the MDA III from the fourth quarter of this year.

What was rumored earlier last week and confirmed with some more detailed specifications is finally confirmed. So far T-Mobile denied to speak about a price nor they gave any information in which T-Mobile networks in the world the MDA III is released.

Cheers ~ Arne

[1] That's a pretty good question I thought about as well. I fear there won't be any localized keyboards available but a QWERTY keyboard only... :-( But yes, I would also miss the German Umlauts (ÄÖÜ) and especially the "sharp German" S (ß) since my name spells Heß (I'm using Hess for international communication only).

But so far I haven't seen any keyboard specs...

Cheers ~ Arne

PS: See you Saturday - will be there but maybe I'm not joining the complete meeting but looking to switch with some pals too the Italian restaurant earlier... ;-)
