Orange UK provides on its Developer site a way to get the SPV locked/unlocked Over the Air (OTA)
The process of unlocking the SPV involves the temporary removal of the certificates. The unlock/lock process is delivered over-the-air to the SPV.
After application development has taken place, you will need to re-lock the device and re-instate the certificates for the testing procedure to be completed. Once the device is re-locked, unsigned applications will no longer run on the device.
The process of unlocking and locking the SPV will require your personal/device information and agreement to terms and conditions.
The site is for use by application developers only.
Before proceeding with lock/unlock, please ensure the following on your SPV:
- That your SPV has previously been used to connect to the Internet at least once. This allows us to automatically register your SPV details with the provider of the lock/unlock service, so that we can accurately identify your device before unlocking it.
- That your SPV is switched on and is within good coverage
- That your SPV is at ROM revision 1.3.5 or higher
The process of unlocking the SPV temporarily allows developers to install and test unsigned applications. After you have completed and tested your application, you may submit it for signing (see 'working with Orange' section of the Orange Group developer site). Once your application is signed, you will need to re-lock your SPV to confirm that your application runs correctly on a standard device.
Please note that the unlock/lock processes will cause your SPV to make a short outbound data call. This may incur a small charge in some countries.
Cheers ~ Arne
