OUTLOOK: Samsung announces Android 4.0 upgrade Roadmap for Galaxy devices

Following its launch of the Galaxy Nexus, Samsung has announced this morning on its Facebook page which smartphones and tablets are planned to being upgraded to Android 4.0/Ice Cream Sandwich. According to these information, the Samsung Galaxy S II and Samsung Galaxy Note are the first to receive Korean Ice Cream Sandwich-love anytime in the first quarter of 2012. Furthermore, Samsung confirmed that the Galaxy S II LTE, Galaxy R, Galaxy Tab 10.1, Galaxy Tab 8.9, Galaxy Tab 7.7 and Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus are also Android 4.0 upgradeable and will most likely receive Ice Cream Sandwich anytime after the two flagship devices have received Google's latest Android version.

There is only one question left: Why is there no Android 4.0 upgrade announced for the Samsung Galaxy S and the Galaxy Plus? Both are more or less Samsung's counterpart to the Nexus S (which is also manufactured by Samsung), which has recently received Ice Cream Sandwich.

That's all the information Samsung has given today but noted that separate announcements on details of the OS update will be made soon via Facebook and Twitter.

Cheers ~ Arne

How frustrating for Galaxy II owners to have an update out so long before being able to get it sad

Better than the other way around to know in advance that you won't get any Ice Cream Sandwich for your brand new device! ;-) And it seems pretty common that the ICS upgrade takes longer. Also Sony Ericsson has announced its upgrade plans without confirming detailed release dates. Also, Q1-2012 is already here in 12 days! Maybe Samsung is faster than expected?
