And the next (and last?) major overhaul for today also comes from Microsoft and is designed for its Windows Phone 8 (only - sorry Windows Phone 7.8 owners). As just announced on the Windows Phone Blog, Microsoft has released Facebook 5.0 for Windows Phone 8. This major update brings a ton of new features and improvements that many of might have asked for, including a complete overhaul of the user interface, improved navigation, support for high-res pictures, post sharing, Facebook Timeline view, and more. All the improvements went through a Facebook Beta program, Microsoft established a few months ago. It's an opportunity for heavy-Facebook users and Windows Phone enthusiasts to help test out and shape future versions of Facebook.
That help help and support has been, according to Microsoft, tremendous, and today the beta program is paying its first big dividend. However, that's not the end and Microsoft is continuing to improve its Windows Phone Facebook app. Therefore, it is already offering another Facebook Beta app, which allows users to preview and provide direct feedback on future changes to the app.
