As Skype just announced, Skype for Android is now installed on over 100 million phones worldwide and therefore, Skype is proud to launch a modern design that puts conversations first, focuses on quality as well as performance and delivers a common set of experiences across multiple platforms and devices; which is all included in the all new Skype for Android 4.0. Skype for Android is a complete UI can code redesign to be faster and easier, especially when you're trying to fire off a quick message. Now, Skype promises that everything is at your fingertips. As soon as the app is opened, users will notice the clean new look listing recent conversations – just tap on one to catch up and reply.
While the new Android client looks pretty similar to the earlier released Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 versions, it follows the Android Holo design which makes it now possible to tap or swipe over to the contacts or favorites tabs and tapping on a person brings the user right into a messaging window where the conversation can be starting from. From there video calls, voice calls and everything else are just one tap away.
Skype for Android 4.0 has all the features customs use and love, but is a whole new app. It's not just a makeover but v4.0 was rebuilt from the ground up to be faster and more reliable.
According to the Skype blog, "this release is just the beginning. We have more updates in the coming months and year ahead to make Skype for Android even more reliable, reachable, and mobile-friendly."
In the meantime, the updated Skype for Android 4.0 client is available - as always - free of charge from the Google Play Store.
Cheers ~ Arne
