PHONE EDITION: E-TEN P700 with dual expansion slots

Probably the most powerful E-TEN offering is the P700 running on the latest Microsoft® Windows Mobile™ 2003 software for Pocket PC Phone Edition operating system. It not only adds Tri-Band GSM GPRS to a PXA255 powered device but adds two slots for both CF (Type I) and SD expansion slot offering a suite of productivity add-on devices such as a Global Positioning System, a bar code reader for inventory management, and a Wi-Fi (802.11b) for various industry applications.

While the design seems a bit on the squarish side, the lack of a protruding antenna is a welcome feature. It comes with a fairly standard 3.5in. 16-bit Transflective screen and an added option of USB Host features. A key feature on the P700 is USB connectivity, available through the provided cradle or an optional USB host cable. This gives users access to devices such as the keyboard or mouse they already use in their offices, allowing users to input extended text.

This device has CompactFlash type I slot. Does this mean it can't read Compactflash type 2 cards?

Posted by wms on 20.09.03 - 04:16:22

Of course.

Well, CF type II cards will definitely not fit... :-)

How to oreder one peci and whait price in us$

Is this a plain SD slot or does it offer SDIO (BSQUARE SDIO Now!) support? Also, with GPRS Class B... I believe this device cannot connect simultaneously to both GPRS and GSM services.  Also, for USD$650, I would've imagined that they should provide at least 128MB RAM.

Carlo, is this already available in the Philippines? If so where?

Posted by Daniel on 25.09.03 - 19:10:37

Just played with it at Computex, it's very cool but don't think any is interested to pay USD650 for it, not even USD550. I'd rather wait for XDA II.

Just exactly what I need - bigger battery than the XDA II - WM2003 - CF & SD slots.  WOW !  Where & when can I buy one! - BTW yes I would pay $650 USD for it too!

One more comment - I don't put a lot of trust in the supposed added value of a camera (don't need it, and the resolution and lens are not very good at all) - so P700 really fits my needs - Anyway, with the CF slot I could get a much better CF camera to do the job - the extra slots do make a difference.  Now a XDA II with "piggy back" CF could equalize things hardware wise - but again that is added cost and bulk.  Here again the P700 wins IMHO.  Carlo please send me any info on where I can get my hands on this one....  Thanks - Jim

I am crazy about this P700. It's been 20 days I search where to buy it.

Anyone can tell me the nearest location to Bulgaria... please?

Just found this link from PocketPCNow site. $400. British Pounds.

Couldn't find any review, and no mentioning at Brighthand or its forum.  This is the one I want (and hope it has Bluetooth serial profile this time).

Then I can sell my Toshiba e740 , Holux GM-270 , Sony Ericsson T616 , and just just this and my Fortuna BT GPS.

I got it... finally -- form Peripheral Corner

It is great.... only some minor problems, o'corse:

1.Bluetooth hadset can not be connected (no user manual, no evidence it is possible)

2.Multimedia messages - NO or I can not configure it?!
