During its last week's Frequencies by HTC conference in Seattle, HTC first time publicly previewed its HTC One cases prototypes, the company has so far designed for its brand new One X. While HTC said it's understanding the customer need to protect their invest of its new and expensive smartphone, HTC's designers don't feel too comfortable with many open market cases since they have the feeling that these cases take the design out smartphones. And we know that the new HTC One series relies pretty much on design and used materials. Therefore HTC has created a couple of design prototype in different looks and colors and previewed at Frequencies two orange and blue cases which are made of polycarbonate, the same material as the One X body itself.
These cases nicely fit around the One X, without taking the One X design language, but HTC tried to expand the design to the cases. In addition to the striped cases below, HTC also showed a dotted design and said that it's currently testing four colors: blue, orange, black and white. Furthermore, the cases are designed to work with other One X accessories, for instance it fits into the One X desktop cradle with speaker, without removing the case while using the cradle.
However, HTC made also clear that neither the designs nor the colors are finalized today and this might change for the commercial versions. And while we are talking about commercial availability, there was neither a release date given nor a price indication but according to HTC's own accessory shop, they will retail for something around 20 Euro.
