posted this morning, O2 announced it's Xda star today which is based on HTC's
Nike aka Touch Dual reference platform. Like the HTC Touch Dual, the Xda star
features Windows Mobile 6 Professional as well as triband GSM/GPRS/EDGE and
singleband UMTS/HSDPA up to 3.6 Mbps. It also features Bluetooth 2.0+EDR and
misses (unfortunately for home use) WiFi.
However, O2 Germany slightly redesigned its version of the Touch Dual to make it
more Xda nova similar and therefore is the Xda star sporting a different D-Pad
and call button design which is the same as with the Xda nova.
However, the Xda star isn't black glossy anymore, like the Xda nova was, but
Touch typical soft-touch which doesn't looks too bad, even if I was a fan of the
glossy version which is, no question, sensitive. And, one important thing O2
asked me to mention here as well: the Xda logo on the top will change namely
becomes smaller for the commercial version. This is just a hand-made
preproduction marketing sample where the logo become somewhat too big:
The O2 Xda star will available from O2 Germany from November. A review will
follow as soon as I've got my hands on a final device.
Cheers ~ Arne
