The new HTC Desire HD is a mix between its forerunner - the HTC Desire and the HTC Legend. While the Desire HD features best in class technology, with its bright 4.3" WVGA SLCD display, Dolby Mobile and SRS virtual sound, Android 2.2 and the new 1 GHz Qualcomm 8255 Snapdragon CPU, the device also features HTC's unique unibody design which means the device is sculpted from a block of solid aluminum. Quite typical for HTC Android smartphones, the Desire HD supports quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE and dualband UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA at 900/2100 MHz as well as Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, WiFi b/g/n and features aGPS, an FM radio as well as a couple of sensor and a digital compass.

On the front, right bellow the 4.3" SLCD screen, the device sports the Android typical touch sensitive background illuminated menu keys while a D-pad was left. On the back, the device features an 8 megapixel autofocus camera with dual flash LEDs. Also seeable on the back are three plastic spots. The right one covers the battery while the one on the bottom covers the SIM and microSD card. However, each of this plastic spot is also an antenna for GSM/UMTS, WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS.

On the bottom, the device features a standard micro USB port next to the 3.5 mm stereo headset jack.

The HTC Desire HD will be broadly available through mobile operators and retailers across major European and Asian markets from October 2010.
